Monkbar

Skeldergate House
The riverside house built in 1659 by Dame Anne Middleton, wife of Peter Middleton, a Sheriff of York. Skeldergate House, now completely restored and renovated, is a pivotal part of this privately owned hotel and contains 22 twin and double-bedded rooms. It houses the delightful glass roofed lounge, which features some original Roman masonry and a covered wellhead.

Cromwell House
Cromwell House is quietly located in the attractive Bishophill area of York, close to the south bank of River Ouse. It is linked to Skeldergate House, and has views to the nearby city walls, and to the historic parts of medieval York.
The Conservatory linking Skeldergate & Cromwell House is a spacious lounge and dining area constructed of reclaimed timber and glass. The main timbers are over 100 years old and were part of the Sawmill, which previously occupied the site.
All rooms have double or twin beds, and rooms with accommodation for four persons can be arranged. Colour TV and tea/coffe making facilities are available throughout. All rooms have private shower and toilet facilities, some baths. Direct dial telephones in all rooms. Laundry facilities.
Direction: A64, a1036 York West, at city wall turn right, first left into Cromwell road. There is a car park on the right hand side.

 

Holiday Inn Express

The Holiday Inn Express York-East offers great value for money with one price per room for up to 2 adults and 2 children.
All 49 rooms are well-equipped with an en-suite shower room, a direct-dial telephone, satellite television, computer point, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities.
The Complimentary Express buffet breakfast is offered in the’Great Room’ within the hotel. Adjacent is the Stockton on the Forest Inn, offering excellent food and drink, every day from 12 noon to 10 p.m.
For the leisure traveller is the ideal base for the visiting York Minster, Clifford Tower, the Jorvik Centre, Harewood House, Harrogate, Ripon, Thirsk, Scarborough and the Yorkshire Dales are all within easy reach.
